Body Shapes

Body Shapes For Plus-Sized Women

Plus-sized women are well aware of fashion, style, and trends.  It may be that plus-sized women are more aware of the internal workings of the clothing industry than are straight sized women.

The plus-size woman looks at news, movies, magazines, etc.  In all of these, there are desirable articles of clothing.  It takes only a quick glance to recognize that "I like that dress".  It takes hours of contemplation about "How can I make that dress work for me?"

Knowing your body type (shape) as well as your personal body measurements can go a long way toward answering the question of how to wear a particular garment.  We've enjoyed learning about body shapes and the style of clothing to pair with those shapes.

All women should know about their physical shapes.  It's most important for the plus-size woman shopper to be able to choose clothing based on her personal body type.

There are several standard 'types' of bodies that have been defined.  When a particular type of body is mentioned, anyone that's into clothing at all will know instantly to begin looking for a particular style to go with that type.

Plus-size Women owe a thank you to the women celebrities who have demonstrated how to dress for their own bodies.  Each body shape owned by plus-sized women is also owned by a woman celebrity who dresses for beauty and the attention received from the general public.

In the following posts, we'll be looking at the various shapes of women's bodies.  When the shape label is established, we can move on to suggestions about styles that look best for that shape.

The body shapes to be discussed are:

  • The Apple Shape
  • The Bell Shape
  • The Brick Shape
  • The Cello Shape
  • The Column Shape
  • The Cornet Shape
  • The Goblet shape
  • The Hourglass Shape
  • The Inverted Triangle Shape
  • The Lollipop Shape
  • The Pear Shape
  • The Rectangle Shape

With the knowledge of how to measure her body, the knowledge of what her body's measurements are in both centimeters and inches, the knowledge of her body type and the knowledge of best styles for her body type, our plus-size woman on-line shopper can be extremely successful in creating her wardrobe.
